On the 12th of November 2022, upcoming Gospel artist Marko Kisose released his debut 14-track album entitled The Gospel (Good News). The album’s mood is uplifting and emotional, with a mixture of slow and up-tempo songs, set to Inspirational, Christian and Afro-Gospel sounds. Marko Kisose is originally from DR Congo and is now based in New South Wales, Australia, after fleeing war in his native homeland in 2007.
While working on his album, the song Wakati, translating to ‘Time’ came about after Marko was involved in a car accident this year. It took Marko a while to process how he survived the accident. However, he acknowledged that God was with him and that seasons come and go but God remains the same. Knowing this he was inspired to write Wakati and what better way than in his native tongue Swahili, a language widely spoken in DR Congo.
Other songs from the album God Is Good and Fathers Love are also sung in Swahili. “DR Congo will always be in my heart even though I don’t live there anymore, and I wanted to reflect my culture in my music so people who speak Swahili can relate to these songs and also deeply connect”.
Marko wastes little time as a new artist releasing his debut EP in January 2022 his first ever music project, following up with his first single Grace and music video.
