Fabio D’Andrea’s Pace (Italian for Peace), is a powerful new music video starring world-renowned adventurer and survival expert Bear Grylls. The video is the latest in D’Andrea’s ambitious 24 project, using Fabio’s original classical music compositions and visual storytelling to shine a light on urgent social issues.
On World Homeless Day, the release of Pace is being supported by the Big Issue UK, whose mission is to dismantle poverty by creating opportunity and providing a platform for unheard voices. The collaboration highlights the growing concern about hidden homelessness in the UK, affecting thousands of families, young people, and vulnerable individuals across the UK, with nowhere to call ‘home’.
At the heart of Pace is a beautiful performance by international opera star Freddie De Tommaso, who brings to life a modern rendition of the timeless Prayer of Peace by St. Francis of Assisi, sung in Italian.
In the film, Bear Grylls plays a modern-day Good Samaritan, offering help and compassion to those in need. Speaking about his involvement, he says: “Helping others is a sign of ultimate strength. We can all do more, we all fail often, but showing compassion to those in need is one of the most beautiful things we can do as human beings,” said Grylls. “We can’t ignore the struggles of those around us. That’s the spirit of a Good Samaritan — someone who refuses to look away. That’s why I wanted to be a part of this project and help draw attention to the invisible crisis of hidden homelessness.”
Fabio D’Andrea adds: “Music can do more than move us emotionally. It can inspire action. With Pace, I wanted to highlight the struggles of those living in the shadows of society, families, veterans, young people, who are often unseen but whose challenges are no less real.”
Lord John Bird, Crossbench Peer and Founder of the Big Issue, said: “Hats off to Fabio D’Andrea and Bear Grylls for using their talents to spotlight hidden homelessness. At the Big Issue, we’ve spent decades shouting about what others ignore. This brilliant film helps turn up the volume and, for that, we thank them both.”
The video marks the latest chapter of Fabio’s highly anticipated visual piano album 24, which pairs original piano works with cinematic films tackling hidden socials issues. Previous videos have featured stars such as Mel B in Love Should Not Hurt (domestic violence awareness) and Russell Tovey in Something Left to Love (mental health awareness).
