PCB builds on the legacy of Rev. Carmel Jones, the founder of the Pentecostal Credit Union which was founded in 1980 to meet the financial needs of the UK’s Pentecostal Faith community. The transition to PCB marks a significant evolution in this mission, aiming to provide a broader range of financial services that are tailored to the meet the financial needs of its membership.

Shane Bowes, a Christian, is CEO of PCB. He stated “It is an honour to continue the work that Rev. Carmel Jones began. PCB is not just a community bank; it’s a movement towards economic empowerment and financial inclusion for our members – 98% of whom are Black African and Caribbean. Our goal is to support the financial aspirations of individuals, families, and businesses within our community, ensuring they have the tools and resources to thrive financially.”

As Britain’s first Black-led community bank, PCB is dedicated to fostering economic growth and development within the Black community. The bank offers a comprehensive suite of financial products and services, including savings accounts, loans, and business financing, all designed with the community’s specific needs in mind.

The launch event at the Royal Society will highlight the bank’s commitment to being at the forefront of economic empowerment. Leading figures from Britain’s world of business, charity, religion and entertainment have been invited to celebrate this major moment in the financial empowerment of the Black community in Britain.
