Seeking Justice, Speaking Truth, Bringing Hope: How Christian Concern is Shaping the Public Square in the UK
Written by Omosola Fiberesima on 19th July 2025
In a society where biblical values are increasingly under threat, one organisation is standing boldly to declare truth, seek justice, and bring hope to the public square. Christian Concern is not just another advocacy group, it’s a voice of spiritual courage in today’s cultural battlefield.
Their presence at the Refuel Festival this year was nothing short of inspiring, with powerful testimonies, legal stories, and resources that are waking up the Church to engage with societal issues head-on.
What is Christian Concern?
Christian Concern is a UK-based organisation dedicated to bringing the truth of Jesus Christ into every aspect of public life. Whether through the media, politics, or grassroots engagement, they advocate for biblical values in the face of cultural opposition. Their mission is simple yet profound: to see Christ glorified in the public life of our nation.
They are active in:
- Speaking to Government & Politics: Influencing legislation and political conversations.
- Media Engagement: Speaking truth on controversial issues like abortion, euthanasia, and conversion therapy.
- Legal Support: Through the Christian Legal Centre, defending believers facing legal consequences for their faith.
- Public Awareness: Publishing resources to inform and equip Christians to stand firm in today’s culture wars.
From high-profile legal battles to grassroots advocacy and prayer, Christian Concern is actively restoring Christian witness in the UK.
Q&A: On the Ground with Christian Concern at Refuel FestivalQ
What does Christian Concern stand for, and what are some of its key focus areas?
We’re all about speaking the truth of Jesus into public life be it media, politics, or education. We speak up on current issues like abortion, conversion therapy, and euthanasia, always aiming to glorify Christ and bring hope. We also challenge injustice through legal representation and public advocacy.
Q: How did Christian Concern begin?
It started with Andrea Williams, our Chief Executive and a trained barrister. The Christian Legal Centre was born from a legal case involving a woman penalised for wearing a cross at work. Since then, we’ve handled over 500 legal inquiries this year alone, supporting believers facing pressure for their biblical convictions.
Q: Can you share a story that reflects the heart of your mission?
Take Felix Ngole, for example. He was expelled from the University of Sheffield for a Facebook post affirming biblical marriage. We supported him through multiple legal battles he eventually won, completed his degree, and became a social worker. But the same post led to a second round of opposition. Still, we’re standing with him.
That’s the level of resistance believers are facing and why we must continue the fight.
Q: What’s been your personal highlight at the Refuel Festival?
The unity in worship has been amazing. It’s uplifting to see people from all walks of life come together with one purpose to see Scotland and the UK saved. Being here fuels my passion to see the Church awakened to what’s going on and take spiritual responsibility.
Q: How can people get involved or support your work?
Start by visiting christianconcern.com and signing up for update. We also post regular bulletins on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube). We’re preparing to respond to a proposed conversion therapy ban, and our updates will equip people to stand firm in truth. You can also buy our resources and join us in prayer.
Q: Speaking of prayer, how important is it to what you do?
Prayer is absolutely critical. We have an army of prayer warriors who uphold us behind the scenes. Nothing we do would be possible without that foundation. Every great move of God starts in the place of prayer, and we believe that deeply.
Q: You also offer books and resources. What stands out in your collection?
We publish through Wilberforce Publications. Some key titles include “What Are They Teaching the Children?”, which tackles school curriculum content, and “Christians in the Firing Line” a powerful compilation of stories from believers who suffered for standing in truth. The fact that we’re now on Volume 2 speaks to the growing number of such cases.
Q: Where can people access these materials?
All books are available on Amazon, and there’s a dedicated section on our website that links to Wilberforce Publications. You’ll find the full catalogue there.
Will You Stand?
Christian Concern’s slogan says it all: Seeking Justice. Speaking Truth. Bringing Hope.
In a time where silence is complicity, they are inviting you to be part of the movement.
Whether by praying, giving, learning, or simply speaking up you can play a part in shaping the spiritual direction of the UK.
