Award-winning Singer-Songwriters, Philippa Hanna and Lily-Jo join moral and musical forces for catchy new single, ‘KNOWN’, a vibrant pop track to be released 17th May. The song carries a message of self-worth and identity for the social media age and is released in support of Compassion UK’s ‘Different Path’ – a matched giving appeal supporting mums and babies in Togo, West Africa.
No, you haven’t just stumbled across the Spice Girls on a side-project. This vibrant pair of Northern songbirds, Philippa Hanna and Lily-Jo, hailing from Sheffield and Manchester respectively, are bringing their own brand of female empowerment to the fore. These well-loved, independent solo artists, both recognised for their catchy, uplifting songs are bringing their voices together for a chorus with a conscience. ‘KNOWN’, a highly singable pop track will be available across all major digital-download and streaming platforms from Friday May 17th.
Although the pair have contrasting stories and styles, this catchy self-esteem anthem highlights a message and a passion the two most definitely have in common. Both artists have done extensive miles helping young people realise their value and potential. Philippa Hanna, an author as well as musician (her third book ‘Amazing You’ released January this year), has toured with the likes of Little Mix and Leona Lewis. Award-winning Singer-Songwriter (and trained counsellor to boot) Lily-Jo has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe and regularly coaches in Schools and workplaces on matters relating to Mental Health and wellness.
Whilst Philippa is best known for her uplifting blend of Country and Gospel, Lily-Jo is more at home in the urban-pop scene of Manchester. But although the songstresses have varied influences, their message is well and truly in sync.
Fresh from an 18-date tour with Royal Wedding singers, ‘The Kingdom Choir’, Philippa Hanna is embarking on a ‘girl-focused’ tour this June with Lily-Jo as special guest. The ‘Known’ tour which shares its name with the single, promises ‘an occasion of entertainment and inspiration for all ages’ and is aimed squarely at woman-kind.
As Compassion UK’s artist in residence, Philippa is delighted to be using both the tour and single to support Compassion’s Different Path Appeal – a recently launched initiative, aimed at supporting vulnerable mums and babies in Togo, West Africa. The tour comes at an exciting time for Compassion UK, as all donations made to its Different Path Appeal before June 24th will be doubled by the UK government. “The generous funding from the UK government will allow us to transform the lives of even more women and their families in Togo, ensuring their health and wellbeing. We are so grateful for the support of Philippa, and anyone who can help us in our mission to enable these mums and children take a different path in life.” says Justin Dowds, CEO of Compassion UK.
