Faith groups across the country prepare for tenth Great British Spring Clean – the country’s biggest mass action campaign

Keep Britain Tidy is providing regional case studies and content for faith titles and publications to mark the tenth time the anti-litter campaign, which involves thousands of litter-pickers of all faiths, has been held.
National environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy has issued a rallying call for people of all faiths to ‘Love Where You Live’ ahead of the 10th Great British Spring Clean (March 21 to April 6, 2025).
From February 14th – Valentine’s Day – people can show they love where they live by pledging to pick a bag or more – as an individual, group or school – at keepbritaintidy.org, before the army of #LitterHeroes takes to our streets, parks and beaches from March 21.
Over the past decade, the groundbreaking Great British Spring Clean campaign has united an army of millions of #LitterHeroes – from communities, faith groups, schools, businesses to local authorities – to tackle litter, with the equivalent of more than half a million wheelie bins pledged since 2016.
More than 30 million tonnes of litter are dropped every year, costing the country the best part of £1 billion annually to clear up, injuring our wildlife and polluting our environment with plastic.
Now the biggest mass-action environmental campaign in the country, members of mosques, churches, synagogues, temples and other religious communities are among volunteers who pledge to protect our environment during the annual event by picking a bag or more of litter.
More than 425,000 bags of harmful rubbish were removed from our streets, parks and beaches during last year’s campaign.
People can pledge to pick via the charity’s website: www.keepbritaintidy.org and can also register for free for the charity’s #LitterHeroes programme, funded by People’s Postcode Lottery.
This year’s campaign is made possible thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, media partner Clear Channel, and supporting partners Coca-Cola, KFC, Mars Wrigley, McDonald’s, Nestlé, Pepsi MAX and Walkers.
