Grammy Award-Winning Recording Artist Tamela Mann dropped the music video for “Mason Jar” today from her latest album Us Against the World: The Love Project with husband, NAACP Image Award-Winning Actor and Comedian David Mann. “Mason Jar” showcases Tamela’s tender vocals paying tribute to her grandmother, mother and love of her life, David.
“In high school, I never had a date or relationship like my other friends had, and I always wanted someone to love me for me,” said Tamela. “Then, after focusing on my music, I finally found someone who saw me, loved me, and wanted to be with me. This is a love that I never thought would happen, but it did, and it can happen for you. I finally found a love that I can cherish forever. That love is David Mann, and ‘Mason Jar’ is my expression of my love for him.”
Produced by David, Tamela and their son David Mann, Jr., Us Against the World is a candidly honest 10-song album chronicling defining moments in David and Tamela’s relationship. The two recreate an epic revelation from early on in their marriage that could have undone them on the heart-wrenching yet resolutely hopeful track “I Love You.” The first single “Good Love” is a timeless romantic duet in the vein of one of the Motown classics featuring David and Tamela’s soulfully smooth harmonies. The title track “Us Against the World” features the duo’s fine vocal blend layered on top of funky, soulful grooves. The album reconstructs other ‘big reveals’ in the couple’s relationship, leading to “Signs,” the ultimate love letter to each other. The album released in conjunction with their memoir, Us Against the World: Our Secrets to Love, Marriage, and Family (W Publishing/Harper Collins Christian), is available now. Just announced this week, Tamela and David with Shaun Saunders and W Publishing received a NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Literary Work – Debut Author for Us Against the World: Our Secrets to Love, Marriage and Family. The NAACP Image Awards show takes place March 30, 2019 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
