Made in Scotland: Ray-z fine Spiritually Inspired Fine Things

Written by on 6th October 2025

In Scotland today, creativity is being redefined by a wave of diverse entrepreneurs whose
stories reflect resilience, culture, and passion. Among them is Rayzfine, a Black-owned
fashion brand that blends African heritage with contemporary Scottish style. Featured in the
“Made in Scotland: Brands You Should Know” series on HeartSong Live Radio, Rayzfine is
not just a clothing line it is a vision of identity, empowerment, and faith.

From Childhood Stitches to a Fashion Vision
For founder Oluwafumilola Okeowo, fashion began long before Ray-z fine existed. Growing up in Nigeria, she often sat beside her mother, who was a tailor. Watching her cut, measure, and sew planted early seeds of creativity.

At university, those seeds took root. When tailors refused to make her outfits the way she wanted, she took matters into her own hands. She sewed her first dress, and when her mother later complimented her handiwork, it gave her the confidence to keep going. That simple moment of validation marked the beginning of a lifelong journey.

Years later in Scotland, a friend asked her to design a wedding outfit. Oke hesitated but took on the challenge. When the design turned out beautifully, it became the spark that birthed Ray-z fine.

The Name Behind the Brand
Rayzfine is not a random name. Rooted in Oke’s Delta State culture, “Rayz” carries spiritual meaning, connected to divine inspiration, while “Fine” represents beauty and elegance. Together, they mean “spiritually inspired fine things.” For Oke, every Ray-z fine piece must carry that essence. It’s not just about fabric, it’s about creating clothing that makes people feel proud, confident, and empowered.

Building in Faith and Passion
Rayzfine is built on two pillars: faith and passion. Oke believes in God as the source of her creativity. She often refers to the scripture in 2 Peter 1, which says that God’s divine power has already given us everything we need for life and godliness.

This conviction fuels her entrepreneurial journey. She believes everyone has a gift placed within them, and it is their responsibility to develop it.

Her advice to other creatives is simple:
● Take the first step, even if it feels uncomfortable.
● Believe in the deposit of gifts God has given you.
● Let passion drive you. It will always create room, even in a busy life.

Balancing Life, Work and Fashion Like many small business owners, Oke has had to learn how to balance her brand with everyday life. With a full-time job, family responsibilities, and multiple choir commitments, her schedule is demanding.

Yet, she insists passion is the key: “We make time for the things we love.” For her, late nights and early mornings are often spent sketching, sewing, and planning.

Her husband has been a strong support system, sometimes joining her on the floor to help when the work feels overwhelming. That partnership keeps Resifine moving forward, even when life gets hectic.

Lessons from Setbacks
Ray-z fine’s journey hasn’t been smooth. One of the toughest moments came when Oke showcased at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She invested heavily but earned far less than expected.

For some, that would have been a stopping point. But for Oke, it was a lesson in adaptability. “The terrain is changing,” she explained, “and people are becoming more appreciative of African fabrics. I just had to find the right balance.” That resilience is what has kept Ray-z fine alive. Instead of quitting, Oke used the setback as
fuel to refine her approach and keep pressing forward.

The Driving Force: Passion
When asked what keeps her going despite challenges, Oke has one answer: passion. “There are nights I’ve been exhausted, even in tears, but passion won’t let me stop. Every time I see someone in a Ray-z fine creation, it brings me joy. It reminds me why I do this.”

That deep passion is what makes Ray-z fine more than just another brand. It is a personal mission to bring beauty, confidence, and cultural pride to her customers.

A Dream for the Future
Looking ahead, Oke has bold ambitions for Ray-z fine. She envisions it becoming a household name not only in Scotland but across the UK and beyond. “When people talk about well-known fashion brands, I want Ray-z fine to be among them,” she says. Her dream is for Ray-z fine to stand beside global fashion houses, showcasing the richness of African-inspired designs on an international stage. For her, big dreams are essential: “If your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not worth dreaming.”

Why Ray-z fine Matters Ray-z fine is more than a fashion business. It represents:● Cultural preservation: keeping African fabrics and creativity alive in a new land.
● Faith in action: building a brand on spiritual conviction.
● Resilience: learning from setbacks instead of quitting.
● Empowerment: creating clothing that gives people confidence.

This is why Ray-z fine is a perfect feature in the “Made in Scotland: Brands You Should Know” series. It’s a brand that tells a powerful story of identity, passion, and vision.
