Methodist Church encourages Christians to connect with their community during Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend

The Methodist Church is urging people to reach out to their local communities and share their faith during the weekend of celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The celebrations will take place on the first weekend of June, on an extended bank holiday.
Holly Adams the Methodist Churches’ Evangelism and Contemporary Culture Officer spoke to Premier about the ways the Methodist Church are encouraging people to celebrate.
Holly said: “We are issuing a really clear call to mission for that Jubilee weekend, where we say to churches all over the country, why don’t you use that extended Bank Holiday weekend as a chance to reach out to your local community.
“Meet people get to know them, have fun together, eat together, laugh together, see if you can share your faith with them.”
The Methodist church has come up with the idea of encouraging people to hold street parties, Holly said: “Now is the time for people to start thinking and planning street parties, if that is on the list of things that they would like to do.
“We don’t always have to be the driver, as a church or as Christians, so find out what has already been planned and get together with other local community groups, see if they are planning anything.”
Holly explained that they understand that the last two years have been tough for a lot of people.
Holly said: “People have felt isolated over the last two years and this is a chance for people to really come together and share together how they have felt.”
