ARE YOU TEARING DOWN OR BUILDING UP?

Written by on 23rd February 2023

Pleasant words are like ·a honeycomb [liquid honey],
·making people happy and healthy [ sweet to the taste and healing to the bones].
Prov. 16:24EXP

Words are powerful.

Joyce Meyer said, “Words are containers for power, you choose what kind of power they carry.”What do you use your words for? Building up, healing, or tearing down and crushing.

According to a LinkedIn article, the average person uses 7,000 words daily. The author then referenced the teachings of a LinkedIn Instructor, whoasked us to review our words daily by asking ourselves three questions with regards to a previous day’s use of our words. I’ll focus on two-

  • How many of those words that you spoke yesterday made a difference to those around you, a positive difference?
  • How many of those words served little or no purpose at all?

According to that figure of 7,000, we each have at least 7,000, some of us more, kairos moments to change the world, considering God formed the worlds by His words.

7,000 opportunities to make another person’s day remarkable. Build them up. Boost their confidence. Help them see life in the positive.

You may wonder, “how could my words make that much of a difference?” You’d never know unless you try.

Today’s scripture tells us words are like honey. Think sweet. Think soothe. Think heal.

Your words, good or otherwise, are the prints you leave in the sands of time

Friend, what legacy would your words create?

YOUR RESPONSE

  • If you’ve never paid attention to your words, now’s the time to begin weighing them and only allowing seasoned words leave your mouth
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to help youchoose words that will build your hearers up.

Prayer:

Father, I thank You for helping me be a life giver through my words. May I always create hope and faith in others through my words. Help me, Lord to always use the opportunity you gave me with great discretion. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
