Christian Comedian John Crist: “I Made A Lot Of Decisions That Hurt Myself And Other People”

Written by on 17th July 2020

Popular Christian comedian John Crist has come back online after an eight-month hiatus to thank fans for their “undeserved” support as he sought treatment in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal

The thirty-six year old who last posted on social media back in November, posted a video on Wednesday which was broadcast on both Instagram and Facebook platforms

In the video he explained he had spent the extended period of time working on his personal issues, including a four-month stay in a “treatment facility”. He did not mention what or where this facility is located

This is coming off the back of the Charisma investigation held last year which looked into allegations of sexual misconduct against Crist involving female fans. In response to the allegations, Crist admitted that he has struggled with “sexual sin and addiction.”

“I’ve sinned against God, against women and the people who I love the most,” he said at the time. “I have violated my own Christian beliefs, convictions and values, and have hurt many people in the process.”

“All my comedy videos were pointing out hypocrisy in some way … and the most embarrassing part of this whole thing is the biggest hypocrite was me,” Crist said in the four-and-half-minute clip.

In the video, Crist also expressed gratitude for the support he had received all these months, particularly because he expected the contrary to be the case

“I assumed I lived in a community of people that would be the first to look down on me and judge me and point fingers at me, but I felt nothing but the opposite,” he said

The investigation had also led to the cancellation of his comedy tour, a Netflix special, and his first book.

He went on to say in the video “I was portraying a person on the internet that I was not behaving like privately. That’s on me. If I can look you in the eye and tell you I’m part of the problem, then I can also be a part of the solution.”
