Devotional: TRUSTING GOD’S PLAN
Written by Sunny Unachi on 1st June 2026
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
One of the greatest challenges in the Christian life is trusting God when we cannot see what lies ahead. We often want answers before taking a step, certainty before making a decision, and explanations before surrendering our worries. Yet God’s invitation is not to understand everything but to trust Him completely.
Trusting God means believing that His wisdom is greater than our own. It means accepting that even when circumstances seem confusing, disappointing, or delayed, God is still at work behind the scenes. Joseph trusted God through betrayal and imprisonment before seeing God’s promise fulfilled. Abraham trusted God when the destination was unknown. Their stories remind us that God’s plans often unfold differently than we expect, but they are always for His glory and our good.
Sometimes we lean heavily on our own understanding, trying to solve every problem in our strength. However, God calls us to acknowledge Him in every area of our lives—our relationships, careers, finances, dreams, and struggles. As we submit our ways to Him, He promises to direct our paths.
Today, choose to trust God with the things you cannot control. Place your unanswered questions in His hands and remember that the God who holds your future is faithful and trustworthy.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You because You are a good and faithful God who sees the beginning and the end. There are moments when I struggle to understand what You are doing in my life, and there are situations that cause me to worry and doubt. Today, I choose to place my trust in You.
Help me surrender every fear, anxiety, and uncertainty into Your hands. Teach me not to rely solely on my own understanding but to seek Your wisdom in every decision I make. When I am tempted to take control, remind me that Your plans are higher and better than mine.
Lord, direct my steps and guide me along the path You have prepared for me. Give me the patience to wait on Your timing and the faith to follow wherever You lead. Let my heart remain steadfast, knowing that You are working all things together for good. May my life reflect complete dependence upon You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
