Tell us a little about yourself, your journey into becoming Christian Recording artiste

I have always loved Christian music so since way back, I found myself serve; from orthodox cuurch (sight-reading) to gospel choirs and worship bands. It is like an inseparable piece of me. So, I would say, I didn't set out to be a recording artiste but my passion for music and leading worship opened the way for that layer of ministry in my walk with God.

Let’s talk about your new record ‘Miracle’ talk to us about it?

Ah yes! Miracle! My husband and I received this song about 5 years ago and its grown on us since then. It started off with the chorus and during worship moments, the verse and bridge came through. And we found out in those moments there was always times of ministrations which led to declarations and intercessions. So having the lead pastor ( Simon Holley) of my home church, Kingsarms , making prophetic declarations was just apt! Also, I strongly believe in the power of the name of Jesus to break yokes and generational strongholds! I am a personal recipient of how declaring the name of Jesus over my life as a young convert broke some generational stronghold in my life and the fruits of those moments are still evident in my life.

What has been the reception since the release of the new song?

I will say I am so humbled. It made UCB2 monthly playlists and also TBN UK have the live recording being played. I think more than that the messages received of how people have been blessed and are still being blessed is a testament to the power of obedience and patience, to birth this song that’s been with us for several years. I am also excited because I do have an 8 track album to be released soon and the reception has been very encouraging, so really looking forward to sharing that soon.

We literally can feel the passion in all you do, what keeps you going musically

Ah yes! I get that a lot! I have always been a passionate worshipper. Truth be told, I did struggle with accepting that part of me in the early stages of journey as a worshipper. Things like the imposter syndrome, not being authentic to my true self, second-guessing and the endless list that goes into that bag! But, I found out the more I stayed in God’s presence and worshipped, I found my true identity as the reason why God placed the passion in me, in other words you could say, I found my true authentic worship voice and since then I’ve been unapologetically passionate in worship. And most importantly my love for God and his church and the joy of salvation, of knowing the one and only true God, keeps me going and desiring more in worship!

Alot of people say, they don’t write their songs when they receive it? and some say they don’t even have a song book, they just go into the studio and the inspiration drops? which of these categories do you belong to? The question is intended to ask how do you write your songs?

Good question! I would say, I am a combination of both. I do keep a song book and Ive had several ones since university days! ( …way back!)
So, I’m that girl! But, I also allow myself to evolve with the music and give space for suggestions during the recording sessions. And, there are times I have a melody/tune I Channel my writing to, which then influences my songwriting.

Who is currently your favourite Christian artiste?

That’s a tough one, because I have several, depending on where am at…
I’ll say Cece Winans (her legacy and authenticity), Maverick Music (simplicity and freedom) Nathaniel Bassey (Musicianship and Spiritual depth) , Ntokozo Mbambo ( Musicality, Passion and Personality) I could go on and on …

If you look back many years back what would you do differently if you have the opportunity to rewind as a minister

I think I would have taken learning of more musical instruments seriously. Because, I now see how that enhances your music and songwriting. But, for my journey, I won’t take that back, because I am grateful for the experience and how its made me who I am.

Who are your musical influences?

Ah! That’s another endless list as I listen to lots of genres. Besides gospel music, I do love jazz, soul, R&B, hip hop, afro beats, so a combination of all these does influence my style.

One advice to your fans and our readers across the globe

My advice is for that we nuture our relationship with God, because that is what keeps you grounded. The second will be to nuture your relationship with people because you can’t do much without community. Find an authentic scripture based church and serve and stay grounded. This whole project won’t have been possible without my church community. I feel save and covered by their support and prayers and knowing I have amazing friends I can spend time worshipping and just doing life with when the chips are down.

Congratulations on your release, are there any prayers you would like our staff and readers to pray on your behalf?

Firstly, I will say thank you Heartsong for your immense support over the years! You have stayed consistent and committed to the community of gospel artiste.
Yes, please my prayer is the grace to stay grounded in Christ and the community of believers his blessed me with. Thanks again for your time. God bless you!
