Hundreds gather from many nations to Llanelli
Written by Sunny Unachi on 12th August 2026
This summer the Selwyn Samuel Centre in Llanelli hosted people from many different nations, some from as far away as Korea and Japan.
They gathered together, alongside Welsh people from lots of different churches, to worship Jesus and pray for Wales. Among them were singers, dancers and even classical musicians.
For a week the town reverberated with joy and laughter and international praise. What drew them? They believe that the Lord God wants to move powerfully in Wales again.
The last spiritual revival was in 1904 when God used a young miner, Evan Roberts. It began just up the road, in Loughor. Historians call that year ‘the year of the white gloves’.
The judges were given white gloves to wear, because the Spirit of God had moved so powerfully in people’s hearts that crime stopped and there were no new cases to try.
Policemen formed choirs to praise God, because there was no work for them to do. Society was transformed, families reunited, debts forgiven, as tens of thousands of people across Wales had powerful encounters with the Living God.
However, the blessing did not stop in Wales, it flowed into the rest of the UK and across into Europe. Within a year it was impacting Northern India through Welsh missionaries, then linking with a mighty move of God in Asuza Street, USA, and on into Korea, China and Japan.
Christians from these nations are now coming back to Wales, where it all started.  They have a conviction that the Lord is saying that He wants to transform Wales again by pouring out His goodness and His mercy.  They feel that as the spiritual ‘wells’ of revival are unblocked in Wales, it will again mean blessing for many other nations.
The worshippers who came this summer, are praying for Wales, as well as their own nations to know a fresh move of God. They know that in this present time, where everything is being shaken, there is only One who is a solid foundation.
They want to see people come into personal relationship with the Living God, who is the One who forgives and heals and releases people in spirit, mind and body.
Lord, bless Llanelli, bless Wales, and please pour out your Holy Spirit on us and through us, in Jesus name, Amen.
