Killer herdsmen continue to unleash terror on Christians in Nigeria

Written by on 30th November 2021

Thousands of Christians including children are currently been persecuted in Nigeria.

An attack happened in Plateau state on Friday, when jihadist Fulani herdsmen shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ (Allah is the greatest) killed ten Christians and set fire to 100 homes, displacing nearly 700 people.

Three children, aged four, six and eight, as well as seven adults thought to be from the same family were killed shortly after 1am, according to charity International Christian Concern (ICC).

Three other adults survived.

Survivor Sibi Gara, speaking from hospital, told ICC: “I lost my grandchildren for the sake of Christ”.

“I slept outside on the street,” said another survivor who narrowly escaped the attack, but lost six family members.

Nuhu Ngah, the National Spokesman of the Miango Youth Development Association, said in a press statement that the attack lasted for more than two hours.

“This calculated attack was carried out by the Fulani militants who intruded from the boundaries of Kaduna-Plateau,” a reliable source in Plateau told ICC. “Eyewitnesses have it that the attackers came en mass to carry out these devilish acts.”

The killers were reportedly dressed in black, holding sophisticated weapons.

The attack is the most recent of a long list of recent attacks, in which jihadists are repeatedly targeting churches and Christians in Nigeria.

Dr Ibrahim Amur, the only doctor in the only hospital across the Miango and Kwall districts, said he has treated 40-50 victims of “gunshot attacks” over five months in Nigeria. Amur said the victims have been “mostly Irigwe Christians.”

Christian persecution watchdog group Open Doors USA ranks Nigeria at number nine on its 2021 World Watch List of countries where Christians face the most severe persecution.
