Spotlight : The Glasgow Worship group giving Scotland a Distinctive Sound

Written by on 5th October 2026

Scotland has a long and rich musical heritage, and within its Christian music landscape, a distinctive worship sound continues to emerge from Glasgow. One of the names worth paying attention to is GPA Worship, a Glasgow-based Christian worship collective connected with the Global Prophetic Alliance.

GPA Worship has been developing a growing catalogue of worship music that combines congregational singing, live worship and a strong emphasis on creating space for spiritual encounter.

The collective’s latest project, Deeper (Live), released on August 28, 2026, features eight songs and represents another chapter in its developing musical journey. Apple Music identifies GPA Worship as a Christian artist from Glasgow, Scotland.

The collective is closely associated with worship leader Ali McFarlane, who leads the worship team at the Global Prophetic Alliance. Over time, GPA Worship has brought together a number of collaborators, giving its releases a broader creative identity while maintaining a clear focus on Christian worship.

Its catalogue includes live recordings such as “Show Me Your Glory,” “Jesus Christ Is Lord” and “Holy One Of Israel,” alongside newer releases including “Pioneer (Deeper, Wider, Further, Higher),” “Desire of the Nations,” “Keep Me in Your Spirit,” “Consuming Fire My God” and “We Love Your Voice.” The combination of live worship recordings and contemporary songwriting gives GPA Worship a sound that works both for personal listening and congregational worship.

The release of Deeper (Live) comes during an active period for the collective. In September 2026, GPA Worship was scheduled to lead worship at the Global Prophetic Alliance Conference at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, where worshippers were also invited to participate in the recording and filming of new songs.

Ali McFarlane and her writing partners brought new worship songs to the gathering, with the congregation invited to become part of the recording.

That communal approach is an important part of GPA Worship’s identity. The congregation is not simply an audience watching worship take place on a stage; people are invited to participate in the sound and become part of the worship moment.

The collective is part of the wider Global Prophetic Alliance community in Glasgow, whose work includes Christian teaching, prophetic ministry, worship, conferences and media. Its Glasgow base has become a centre for worship gatherings and creative production, while its digital platforms have helped extend its content beyond Scotland.

GPA Worship has also contributed to conversations around the craft and responsibility of worship leading through The Prophetic Worship Podcast, hosted by Ali McFarlane and guests.

The podcast explores worship leadership, songwriting, spiritual formation and the challenges facing worship teams, including the responsibility of worship leaders to shepherd people rather than simply perform for them and the role of worship in creating space for spiritual encounter.

The titles across GPA Worship’s catalogue also reveal much about its musical direction. “Desire of the Nations” points towards the longing for Christ at the centre of Christian worship, while “Consuming Fire My God” carries the language of surrender and reverence. “Keep Me in Your Spirit” reflects dependence on God, while “Pioneer (Deeper, Wider, Further, Higher)” sits naturally within the direction suggested by the Deeper (Live) project.

Rather than relying primarily on commercial pop structures, GPA Worship’s music draws heavily from the language of Christian worship, creating room for repetition, declaration and congregational participation.

For HeartsongLive, GPA Worship is worth watching because its story contributes to a wider conversation about the development of Christian music in Scotland. Gospel and worship music in Britain is often discussed through the lens of London and other major English cities, but Scotland has its own growing network of worship leaders, Christian songwriters, choirs and independent artists.

GPA Worship represents one expression of that movement, and its Glasgow identity is significant. The city is internationally recognised for its musical heritage, and the collective is building within that culture while maintaining a clearly Christian musical purpose. Global Prophetic Alliance has also highlighted Glasgow’s musical heritage and its status as a UNESCO World City of Music.

The collective’s catalogue has continued to develop over the past few years. Its 2024 releases included live worship songs such as “Show Me Your Glory,” “Jesus Christ Is Lord,” “Holy One Of Israel” and “Release Your Presence.” In 2025 came The Healing album and songs including “Ruined,” “Holy Is The Sound” and “Healing in His Wounds,” featuring Carys Rimmer. The 2026 releases have continued that progression, with Deeper (Live) marking the latest chapter in its growing body of work.

For listeners discovering GPA Worship for the first time, the catalogue offers more than a single release to sample. It provides a journey through the collective’s developing sound and its expression of contemporary Christian worship from Scotland.
