The evening of Monday 12th October will not be forgotten in hurry, especially by the Christian community in Chinnor, South Oxfordshire for that was the day 29-year-old Zoe Powell was killed with three of her children, Phoebe, 8, Amelia, 4, and Simeon, 6, when their car collided with a heavy goods vehicle near Oxford

Her husband Josh and 18-month-old daughter Penelope survived the crash and though remain in a critical condition in hospital, are said to be “showing signs of improvement and are expected to make a recovery”

The family attended Chinnor Community Church, who described the family as “active, involved and much-loved members of Chinnor Community Church throughout their young lives”  

Reverend Dr Jacky Barr, from St Andrew’s Church in Chinnor, where Zoe Powell and her children attended after school club paid tribute to the family describing them as “lovely and “just a joy to have with us”

The 56-year-old driver of the HGV that collided with the Powell’s Subaru people carrier is said to have suffered minor injuries and has co-operated fully with the investigation

No arrests have been made as of yet. Detectives have requested witnesses or those with dash-cam footage to contact them.

A Just Giving page was set up by a colleague of Josh, Andrew Welsford and it reads: “This is such a sad and tragic loss for a work colleague on the railway, whose family have been taken from him in a tragic car crash near Oxford.”

As of writing, almost 2,800 people have already donated to the fundraising page and donations have far exceeded the £1000 goal initially set with more than £84,000 raised so far
