World-renowned Pentecostal evangelist Morris Cerullo died at the age of 88 on Saturday, July 11th

“Today we remember the incredible life of this great man. Your Legacy will live on!” the evangelist’s family wrote on Instagram on Saturday, announcing his death.

On Friday 10th, his family announced on Facebook that Cerullo was being treated for pneumonia at a hospital in California

“Dear Friends, we would appreciate your immediate prayers for Dr Cerullo who is being treated for Pneumonia at the hospital,” the post read.

“Please also pray for Theresa who has been working around the clock to assist in his care. She needs your prayers too for extra strength at this time. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for Morris and Theresa!”

Cerullo was born in Passaic, New Jersey, to an Italian father and a Russian Jewish mother. His parents died in an automobile accident when he was very young. He was raised in various orphanages, the last being an Orthodox Jewish orphanage in nearby Clifton, New Jersey. He converted to Christianity at age 14 with the guidance of a nurse in the Clifton, New Jersey, orphanage

For many years Morris Cerullo conducted repeated “Schools of Ministry” in several countries like Mexico, Brazil, The Philippines, Korea, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia, Netherlands and many others.

During these “SOMs” one of the days of the conferences he would preach in an open-air crusade, or a large theatre/arena, and lead people in a commitment to Jesus Christ and then would pray for healings to happen in the crowd

Cerullo authored more than 80 books the daily television program, Victory Today.

He had some controversy and was indicted for failing to report his total income for over three years in the 1990s, though charges in the case were dismissed.

The evangelist is survived by his wife, Theresa, his children, David, Susan and Mark, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
