Devotional: OVERCOMING FEAR | June 11, 2026
Written by Sunny Unachi on 11th June 2026
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
Fear is one of the enemy’s most effective tools. It seeks to paralyze our faith, cloud our judgment, and keep us from fully embracing God’s promises. Fear often magnifies problems and minimizes God’s power. Yet throughout Scripture, God repeatedly tells His people, “Do not be afraid.”
Fear may arise from uncertainty about the future, concern about finances, health challenges, relationships, or personal failures. While fear is a natural human emotion, it was never meant to control us. God’s desire is that we live under the influence of His Spirit rather than under the grip of fear.
David faced giants, armies, and personal crises, yet he learned to place his confidence in God. His courage did not come from denying danger but from recognizing God’s presence. Likewise, courage is not the absence of fear—it is trusting God despite it.
Whenever fear knocks at your door, answer it with God’s promises. Remember that the Lord who walks with you is greater than any challenge before you. He has equipped you with power, love, and a sound mind to face whatever comes your way.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your constant presence in my life. You know every fear, worry, and uncertainty that weighs upon my heart. Today, I surrender them all to You.
Help me to replace fear with faith and anxiety with trust. Remind me that You are sovereign over every situation and that nothing is beyond Your control. Strengthen my heart when I feel overwhelmed and give me courage to face challenges with confidence.
Lord, let Your perfect love drive out every fear within me. Fill my mind with Your truth and help me focus on Your promises rather than my problems. Thank You for being my refuge, protector, and source of strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
