FOUR POWERFUL SCRIPTURES TO CARRY INTO THE NEW WEEK

“A new week is a clean sheet of paper. Before the list of things to do overwhelms me, before the e-mails start piling up — pause for a moment. The following four Bible verses are not only for reading but also for anchoring.”

1. “This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalms 118:24

It is not “someday,” “when life gets calmer,” “sometime next year.” This verse is about making a choice, rather than about the fact of it. It doesn’t matter whether it is Monday morning, there is too much in your e-mail box, or you have an unpleasant discussion to face — this day has been made and has been made on purpose.

2. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

The feeling of uncertainty comes to visit on a Sunday night – What’s this week going to bring? This verse is not a promise of an easy way; it is a promise of a purposeful way. 4. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

Sometimes, some weeks require you to soar. Most weeks require you to walk without giving up, and that is exactly what this verse encourages you to do. Renewal does not always come in big gestures. Sometimes, renewal means getting back on your feet on Wednesday after being knocked down on Monday. Hope is not an emotion that comes to you; it is something that you choose and strength follows.
