Gaise Baba Dishes Out 13-Track Album, God Is Cooking

Afrogospel innovator Gaise Baba is back with a strong musical statement, releasing his eagerly awaited 13-track album, God Is Cooking – an artistic blend of culture, religion, creativity, and modern African music.
After an incredible 2025 that featured the viral hit “No Turning Back II,” a collaborative track between Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor, the Afrogospel artist from Nigeria moves into a new phase with the God Is Cooking album.
The album kicks off with the enchanting song “Lenu.” It is not long before the musician gets his listeners into their feet with “Show Workings.” The song is a vibrant collab with Greatman Takit. It is all about rhythm and melodies backed by the signature Afrogospel music of Gaise Baba.
However, But God Is Cooking is more than just a body of songs. In addition to this, the album serves as a reflection of how the Afrogospel genre has evolved as well as where the African Christian creatives are in terms of the global musical discussion.
In his reflections about the cultural journey that led him to this record, Gaise Baba states that:
“A century ago, J.J. Ransome-Kuti began the journey which kept on evolving generation after generation. Years after years, Afrogospel has come full circle.”
This sense of cultural and identity-based heritage permeates throughout the entire album, as everything from its sound to its artistic expression seems to be very carefully chosen. The cover design itself is another example of the artist’s intent in this regard, symbolizing the idea of reclaiming the space by African Christians, creatives, and artists.
Some of the collaborators featured on the album include Kaestrings, Nontokozo Mkhize, and Cofi Boham, all contributing to the further development of Gaise Baba’s style and sound.
But the records also feature some previously-released fan favorites such as “No Turning Back II,” which features Lawrence Oyor and “We Outside.”
For several years now, Gaise Baba has been stretching the limits of gospel music by advocating for a gospel genre which is purely African but at the same time appealing to the entire world. In his new album, “God Is Cooking,” he has added another chapter to the story of Afrogospel.
