HSL Devotional: THANK GOD FOR THE LITTLE THINGS | September 5, 2026
Written by Sunny Unachi on 5th September 2026
Scripture: Psalm 118:24; Matthew 6:25–34
Not every blessing arrives with a dramatic testimony.
Sometimes God’s goodness is found in the simplest things: waking up in the morning, having food to eat, receiving a message from someone you love, having strength to work, laughing with a friend or simply enjoying another day of life.
We often wait for something extraordinary before we become grateful. But if we only recognize the spectacular, we may miss the beauty of God’s everyday mercies.
Jesus taught His followers not to become consumed by worry about tomorrow. Instead, He pointed them toward God’s care, reminding them that the Father knows what they need.
Today, slow down, look around you, There may be blessings you have become so accustomed to that you no longer recognize them as blessings.
Gratitude grows when we learn to appreciate what we once prayed for but now consider normal.
Reflection: What ordinary blessing have you overlooked recently?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the little things I often take for granted. Open my eyes to the beauty of ordinary blessings. Help me appreciate today instead of constantly worrying about tomorrow. Give me a grateful heart. Amen.
