UK missionary on his way to besieged city of Mariupol in Ukraine - UK Christian Radio & Gospel Worship

A UK missionary has returned to Ukraine just a week after a deadly Russian shell attack landed 900 metres away from a church he was delivering aid to.

Tony Anthony, who is CEO of The Great Commission Society, is delivering 20 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to the besieged city of Mariupol and hopes to help to evacuate as many people as possible.

Mariupol, a strategically located port city in Ukraine, has been under attack almost ever since Russia launched an invasion last month.

Conditions for the civilians trapped in the city are said to be extremely grim, with no electricity and water and food hard to source.

Mr Anthony, from UK, and his team are trying to get the much needed supplies to those trapped in the city and help return with as many people as possible.

It comes a week after he and his colleagues were close to a Russian shell attack to the north west of Kiev, which devastated nearby apartment blocks, leaving hundreds of people homeless, killing at least one man.

The devastation caused by the shell that landed 900 metres away from where Mr Anthony and his team were delivering aid last week near Kiev.

Mr Anthony returned to the UK shortly after the attack to help to coordinate the next aid mission to Mariupol.

His team are now on their way to the besieged city.

This week images of Mariupol emerged showing up top 90% of the city in ruins following relentless bombardment from Russian forces.

Mr Anthony appealed for prayer, donations and support.

“We have 20 tonnes of humanitarian supplies, and looking forward to evacuating as many people as possible,” said Mr Anthony.
