Top Gospel Releases: Tasha Cobbs, KingdMusic, Robert Hawkins and more

Written by on 11th September 2026

New Music Friday has landed with one of the year’s most anticipated gospel drops, alongside a handful of singles and EPs from across the US gospel scene and a UK worship offering that’s been building buzz of its own. Here’s what’s worth adding to the playlist this week.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard – TASHA Unscripted (Live)

The headline release of the week belongs to three-time GRAMMY winner and Billboard’s Gospel Artist of the Decade, Tasha Cobbs Leonard. Her new 34-track live album, recorded before an audience in Atlanta earlier this year, arrives via Motown Gospel/Capitol Christian Music Group and marks a return to the live-recording format that first built her reputation, following her genre-blending 2025 studio debut, TASHA.

The project revisits catalogue staples such as “Break Every Chain” and “You Know My Name” in new live arrangements, while introducing fresh material and a long list of guest appearances, including Mickey Guyton, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard, Israel Houghton, William Murphy, Le’Andria Johnson and Travis Greene. Advance tracks “Gracefully Broken/Who the Son Sets Free” (with Houghton) and “You Know My Name” (with Johnson) have already previewed the record’s spontaneous, in-the-room energy. The release coincides with the launch of her Unscripted Nights Tour, which opens the same week in Charlotte, North Carolina. Stream Here

Robert Hawkins – “Worth It”

Chicago-based gospel artist and recovery advocate Robert Hawkins releases “Worth It” this week. Hawkins, founder of the nonprofit The Recovery Gathering, has built a career on music rooted in testimony, addressing addiction, mental health and healing in songs like “Finished Work” and “Things Will Work Out.” The new single continues that thread, aimed at listeners navigating their own recovery journeys. Kingdmusic – “Worry About Nothing (Live)”
A live cut from worship collective Kingdmusic rounds out the week’s gospel-tagged singles, offering a congregational, praise-and-worship take aimed squarely at church and radio use. Stream

DJ Mykael V – Holy Smoke! Cypher 2026 EP
On the gospel hip-hop side, DJ Mykael V’s cypher-format EP brings together verses from multiple Christian hip-hop voices in the tradition of his long-running “Holy Smoke” series, a yearly showcase for rising and established names in the genre. Stream EP

Rend Collective – The Evergreen Season EP
Representing the UK this week is Bangor, Northern Ireland’s Rend Collective, whose folk-inflected worship has long crossed over between the UK and US Christian charts. The Evergreen Season EP is worship rather than gospel in the strictest genre sense, but it’s a useful marker of how active the UK faith-music scene has become — last year the Official Charts Company launched a dedicated Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart, tracking British homegrown releases in the space for the first time, after reporting that UK streams of Christian and gospel music have grown roughly sevenfold since 2015.
